soldering a new wire on to the electronic pickup

i was considering soldering anew wire on to the lumi electronic pick as the wire has gone all stiff and brittle will it damage the pick up head in any way?

As long as you are quick with the solder, too much heat for too long will damage it. If it's just the insulation then slide heat shrink over it.
