Correct don't, I use Threebond very sparingly around the water ways and compression seal just a thin bead. Torque evenly to about 10ftlb then again to about 15. Leave to set overnight and finally set to 30ftlb.
Make sure you use new sealing washers on the studs and also a smear of sealant to stop any water leaking around the studs.
