The rubber shielded bearing failed when the gease disappeaed. The replacement open bearing was heavily rusted after three months even though the bike had not been out in the rain. Think it must be condensation inside the gearbox. The latest replacement is metal shielded bearing with the shield on the gear side removed. I have packed the space between the bearing and cover with grease to try and protect the bearing. The selector rods were quite rustyas well. All cleaned up and the gearbox is working well. Will check it in future to see how it is lasting.
