steering head / triple trees

Hello fellows,

again something strange finding on my silk;
the two tapered rollerbearings in the steering head get adjusted with a long bolt/screw, that also clamps the triple tree together. That bolt is only 9,65 mm in Diameter !
On bikes from other bike manufacturers i usually see there a tube with at least 20 mm in diameter.......

Is that a "custom" build of a previous owner, or is that how it came from the factory?

My Silk is just the same.  So presummably that is how they were built. With the top and bottom yokes clamped to the fork stantions I don't think it is a problem.  Just check everything is tight.  I think some of the earlier yokes cracked if over tightened.  Smokey Paul will know more about this.

This is the standard set up. Bit different to standard practice, but I guess that sis the Spondon racing heritage.

It is true some yokes cracked (mine did) and the clamping arrangement of the stanchions was changed....I do have some yokes in the SILK PARTS "SELF HELP" GROUP I have been trying to start without vast sucess.

There is no "site" i.e. a shop as this is not a commercial venture of any sort, I am merely trying to collect spares for common good...there is no point what spares there are being spread around the world thinly

If you need something let me know what you need, and I will see if it is in my stash alternatively you are welcome here at my home (CV23 9NB) by appointment to look at what I have.

I do stress I am not a dealer or interested in making a profit just trying to help fellow owners as there are in effect NO SPARES AVAILABLE IN THE MARKETPLACE. I do have access to the last items Clive Worral had but don't get too excited!!

I have posted some items on E BAY (baldbutsexy) but I do not expect or want to sell though this medium it is purely to attract interest!

Currently there seems v little demand for anything which is disappointing, I had hoped to get a few items made, but seems financial suicide!!

Arthur I hope you got my last message I have three more Silks in the pipeline and need some parts so I sm probably going to get them to contact you directly.
I have also nearly sorted my parts so will be compiling a list of everything got you.
