Popham Mega Meet 16th August

Hendred
Popham is only on the Sunday this year (which I think is better than the two day affair).  I'm planning to go on the smoker again just to annoy the Velocette boys - they just hate following in the oil smoke!  Any other Silks thinking of going?

Not sure if my blue one is one of your four potential Silks, but I should be there, It is going again, and I have a pass.
See you there

The stand I booked is with the Rotary Owners Club also please look for that so we can all meet and display as a group. Myself, Jon another Paul and JJ are the four I may be able to trailer another bike to make 5

The stand is on the front edge on the main arena with Tea / Coffee etc on arrival.

Thanks all and look forward to seeing everyone there.

I am told the Silk / Rotary stand is on the right hand side of the entrance to the main arena but I will confirm if I can later on

Sorry guys,
Friday it was all looking good, it was starting first kick I'd taken it out and it had run perfectly for nearly 60 miles.
Saturday I cleaned and polished, quick reassuring test 5mls or so and slept well. 7.30 Sunday morning with my optimism at its peak; two kicks and we were off up the drive. About 35 trouble free fun miles; stopped for fuel: one kick and away. About a mile on it starts to misfire and fart through the carb like it had eaten an off Vindaloo.
Undid the oil pump housing to find the rotor nut loose, undid the stator and the rotor had come off its keyway.
Put it all back and tightened the offending nut as tight as I could, one kick and we were away again - for about 3 miles and ....bluuuuurrr r r r. Like it had run out of petrol, which it had not; tank still full tap on. Would not re start. intermittent sparks from the plugs. All connections seem good.
AA man comes. He diagnoses loose coil connections - the little nuts that hold the copper spades on, we tightened them up but it made no difference. compression seems good on both. It eventually started after a lot of kicking, but on one pot and only falteringly.
It was loaded ignominiously onto a very snazzy fold out AA van trailer -despite the winch not working, and was delivered back home with me.
Hope you guys enjoyed it, it seems my problems are starting all over again.

I should add to the above that the correct timing hole showed the white blob on a magnet at the correct 3/10"  BTDC piston drop measured down the plug hole. (I don't carry a timing disc - though perhaps I should next time.)

Sorry to hear of your woes and I hope you get it fixed soon. At least Boyer parts are available and relatively cheap if that's where your problem lies. 3 Silks made it to Popham and we had a good day and got plenty of attention. It was the first time I'd been to the bike jumble and I really enjoyed it, a very friendly and laid back event.

Thanks for organising the stand Paul.

You dont buy a Silk without a sense of adventure that's for sure.

Sorry you didn't make it but as said we had a great day and it was an excellent show.

Thanks and lets try for 5 bikes next year
