Good eventing everyone. Thanks for allowing me into the Forum.
By way of an introduction, I own 55/57 a lovely original example that was owed by the last owner for 42 years. The bike was fitted with a sidecar when it left the factory and I’m the third owner. When I obtained it, it was still fitted with all the sidecar fittings including the wiring loom and the steering damper.
The bike had not been run in 8 years and had been dry stored in a garage slowly deteriorating. It needed a full recommission. This included re-hard chroming the fork stanchions, new fork seals and gaiters, replacing the head gasket (I made one from copper sheet), new head lamp shroud rubbers (made from nylon), a new clutch, a carb kit, a coil and an ignition switch, and finally a master cylinder seal kit and new hoses. It also needed and a general going over.
It starts and runs pretty well now, and I’m very pleased with it. It’s keeper 😊. Photo attached.
