Head gasket

I found the head gasket was not torqued down and it improved massively when done as Paul & Arthur recommended.

Is it possible to get new head gaskets?
Paul mentioned a thin smear of silicon on.
Is this on both sides?  do you torque it partly down and leave it a few days to set then do it again.

I have your number somewhere Paul- Ive never got round to fitting the clutch cable yet, need advice about the Clutch end.
